Monday night’s Met Gala China: Through the Looking Glass was a star studded evening which featured a gala red carpet of designers and their muses draped beaded and jeweled in celebration of the much anticipated exhibition to be held in the museums Chinese Galleries and the Anna Wintour Costume Center.
The exhibition will feature more than 130 haute couture and ready-to-wear fashions juxtaposed with traditional Chinese masterpieces in jade, lacquer, cloisonné, and blue-and-white porcelain.
Chinese imagery will be used throughout the exhibition, presenting a series of “mirrored reflections” that focus on the evolution of art, fashion, and culture from Imperial China through the present-day People’s Republic of China. The exhibition will be on view at the Met from May 7th to August 16th. www.metmuseum.org/ChinaLookingGlass
Here’s a look at a few of my favorite and more controversial themed looks from the evening.

Surprisingly, I loved the more subtle looks like Lizzy Caplan’s and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. As far as the over the top stuff, Rih and SJP murdered it. Sadly, Beyonce’s look did nothing for me. I think it was the overall package. Great picks though!
Sorry for the very late reply to your comment. I’ve been sidelined for most of the summer w/ a rotator cuff injury which kept me from responding and posting. I so so agree w/ you. Its the Met Gala a very special evening in fashion history and its starting to look like Halloween. Thanks for reading. I hope you continue to come back?
