The recent red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards show was not only filled with lack luster talent but mediocre fashion. Has the MTV award shows genre seen better days? Here’s my pick of the top ten Hits and Misses from the evening.
HIT: Katy Perry who sometimes can be a hit or miss depending on the hair color looked stunning wearing a beautiful Elie Saab black silk chiffon gown with blue and red beaded floral detail and leather bodice.
HIT: Taylor Swift who typically gets it right again looked beautiful this time sporting the latest red carpet trend wearing a J. Mendel white pants suit with minimal accessories.
HIT: One of my favorite red carpet beauties Zoe Saldana didn’t disappoint looking amazing in a long sleeved fringed Salvatore Ferragamo cocktail dress with black strappy sandals.
HIT: Colton Haynes was definitely a well dress man on the carpet wearing a slim fit charcoal suit with navy shirt and studded loafers, which gave it some edge.
HIT: Wrapping out my top five best dressed is British boy band One Direction. Individually styled but yet cohesively coordinated the band looked great wearing black and white with deep red accents.
MISS: Miley Cyrus looked severe and age inappropriate in her beautiful Emilio Pucci gown. Simple hair and softer makeup would have been more fitting for such a great dress.
MISS: Emma Watson who typically looks so cute left me with mixed emotion with her Peter Pilotto dress. The colors, prints and patterns were great but there was just too much going on for one dress.
MISS: I loved Alicia Keys gold one shoulder Alexandre Vauthier gown but sadly the fit was poor. With more attention to detail it would have been an amazing look. However the new bob cut is amazing.
MISS: Demi Lovato was a whole lot of beading mixed with a lot of rocking-in-roll, which is never a good combination. The young beauty is typically so cute but this time didn’t make the grade.
MISS: Wrapping up the Hits and Misses is Rita Ora in Emilio Pucci. I just didn’t get it. The deep V black and crystal beaded cat suit had a lot going on. www.thpfashion.com
