Being a fan of a great timepiece, I was excited by the announcement that Grovemade, a leading designer of handcrafted wooden and leather accessories, has just introduced a Wood Watch that allows for the observance of time in a more natural essence. Designed in collaboration with, industrial designer Stefan Andren, the Wood Watch features modern, circular hands that move behind the iconic wooden face. The material-driven Wood Watch features a stainless steel casing and is finished with a vegetable-tanned leather or silicone strap.
“The Wood Watch project has been on the drawing board for a long time now and we’re thrilled to finally bring this project to fruition,” says Grovemade’s co-founder, Ken Tomita. “The uniqueness of the Wood Watch coupled with the natural quality all of Grovemade’s products exude will be well worth the wait.”
Grovemade’s Wood Watch utilizes the properties of each individual material to their utmost potential. Available in Eastern Hardrock Maple or Oregon Claro Walnut, each Wood Watch is hand-sanded and oiled for Grovemade’s signature finish. The Wood Watch face is offered in round or square, and with a black leather or black silicone strap for walnut faces and a tan leather or a natural tooling leather strap for maple faces.
The Wood Watch is now available for pre-order for delivery late 2014 or early 2015. The Wood Watch retails for $199 or $239 depending on the style.
