This amazing campaign presented by Pro Infirmis has come and gone but thanks to Facebook and YouTube it was brought to my attention via a friend’s page. I wanted to blog share this just in case you missed it. Please watch.
I work in fashion, an industry that relies on long limbed creature as its visual aesthetic to promote and sell product to those of us who do our best to fit the mold. But what about those who are born with disabilities or handicaps?
This past holiday Pro Infirmis, an organization for the disabled, produced a window display to bring awareness to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Entitled “Because who is perfect? Get closer”. The display was designed to provoke reflection on the acceptance of people with disabilities. Director Alain Gsponer takes us behind the scenes of the project in this beautifully tailored short.
The figures are life-sized, three-dimensional representations of Miss Handicap 2010, Jasmin Rechsteiner, radio presenter and film critic Alex Oberholzer, track and field athlete Urs Kolly, blogger Nadja Schmid and actor Erwin Aljukic.
“We often go chasing after ideals instead of accepting life in all its diversity. Pro Infirmis strives especially for the acceptance of disability and the inclusion of people with disabilities,” says Mark Zumbühl, a member of the Pro Infirmis Executive Board, in describing the campaign. http://bit.ly/1iMhhI2
