Fashion Ads – Over 40 and Still Fab!

Ladies rejoice as the fashion industry is finally taking note and celebrating the beauty of women over 40 with a series of new ad campaign featuring our favorite 90’s supermodels.

Most recently Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing featured Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer in the brands Spring/Summer 2016 campaign, as Rousteing explained during a recent Vogue interview his reasoning for hiring the 90’s supermodels – “These three women are what made me love fashion yesterday, make me love fashion today, and are going to make me love fashion in the future.”

Now Giorgio Armani has teamed once again with photographer Peter Lindbergh, for Armani’s ‘New Normal’ Spring/Summer 2016 campaign, shot in true Lindbergh style of black and white photography and video, that features 90’s supermodels Nadja Auermann, Yasmin Le Bon, Stella Tennant and Eva Herzigova.

Lindbergh, no stranger to working with women over 40 last year shot “The Reunion,” a black and white series of images which featured, Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz, Eva Herzigova, Nadja Auermann, Helena Christensen and Karen Alexander that was captured in a behind the scenes video, as part of the “Director’s Cut,” a series for the online video channel Nowness.

In their latest collaboration Armani and Lindbergh, renews a partnership based on a strong aesthetic affinity and a shared idea of classicism as a core value. 

For Armani’s ‘New Normal’ campaign Lindbergh captured the ladies in an environment that has the simplicity of an atelier d’artiste or a movie set, in timeless, black-and-white narrative style. They are not simply fashion photographs, but portraits of four authentic women, even before being world-renowned models, showing themselves for what they are today: deeply fascinating women, with a proud look and without artifice as the “New Normal” collection is a timeless distillation of the Armani style, showing that true beauty is ageless.

Giorgio Armani says, ‘for this campaign, I wanted four iconic women with strong personalities to show that feminine beauty is ageless. I chose Peter Lindbergh, with whom I have collaborated several times, because his photographs are timeless and are true to real life. I wanted to convey a sense of reality, of clothes that offer natural elegance and the normality of everyday life.’

‘New Normal’ is a selection of timeless pieces by Giorgio Armani that are classic modern staples from his collections that combine the essence of the Armani style in a young and modern wardrobe, that’s perfect for today’s woman. The ‘New Normal’ collection is available in all Giorgio Armani boutiques.
